Continue ShoppingThe Eighth Generation team has selected 13 semi-finalists after a tough and careful review of over 200 submissions from talented artists all across Indian Country! This blog announces the remaining 7. Check out our blog announcing the first 6 Semi-Finalists! After a period of community feedback, we will decide on the final 4.
We encourage you to show love and support for this year's semi-finalists (and the previously highlighted Honorable Mentions)by leaving a comment about your favorites! And remember - the pieces below are samples of the artists' broader work, not necessarily wool blanket designs - so you'll have to use your imagination! A link to the artists website or social media pages has been added whenever possible.

I absolutely love Pat Bruderer’s exquisite birch bark biting. Her work is precise and from a traditional indigenous art form that is specific and rare in artists. Her submission is not only unique but one can see the connection to a lived experience of indigenous ways of knowing and her birch bark canvas Honord the land.

Jessica Rosemary Harjo!
I love the use of color in her design. The diamonds on the little birdies are my favorite!

Navarro uses color beautifully, & would likely do a beautifully colorful blanket as well. I also like Harjo’s colors and designs a lot. But I think I’d really love to see a blanket by Bruderer. While her submitted piece is small, there is just so much there! Dragonflys are important in my life too, showing up at times when I need guidance.

The two Jessicas get my vote, I would love to see the blankets they would create.
