I also wanted to cast a #2 vote – it’s true, David Naranjo’s is also a great blanket design! There is a great sensibility about just that, blanket design, but is really…evolved, super fresh while keeping that traditional root, and something you couldn’t really weave, so it’s perfect for an 8th Gen blanket. Also love the use of neg/pos space like Kim said…which also creates such a pleasing palette!! Love the simple but standout colors, including the black and white. Would seriously consider buying. I put Ikerson Hopper’s first for these and the other reasons mentioned, but objectively I think both are stellar designs. Don’t know the background behind the art but maybe whomever has the more original design? Sorry for the long comments!! Thanks for asking us for our thoughts!

Okay so this vote is definitely from a customer who doesn’t personally know the entrants!!
Here: Ikerson Hopper’s design – NO DOUBT. Yes, full-on dope. Plus, to me it’s the most fully-realized blanket design, specifically for this, not for another piece of artwork, as beautiful as some of the others designed as something else are. And the black-and-white works for this design so perfectly, as it does for your other b&w designs. The design is so powerful and says something deep. I’m only slightly biased for wanting a Haudenosaunee design, but I say that not just for myself but b/c I would totally buy this, and it would make sense to keep broadening representation! (I think it would also appeal to other customers too, not just 6nations peeps!)
As for the other group, I vote for the Karuk deisgn! Similar reasons…it’s the best blanket design (as much as I dig the colors of a few of the others, is fresh as heck color-wise using both traditional and kinda updated design sensibility, and it looks like he designed it specifically for this contest and not something else. I also think business-wise this would sell really well as it’s simply a great blanket to live with! (something I’m considering, since sometimes a sweet design isn’t meant for all objects!) Also great to rep Cali ndns!
