The Eighth Generation team has selected 13 semi-finalists after a tough and careful review of over 200 submissions from talented artists all across Indian Country! This blog announces the remaining 7. Check out our blog announcing the first 6 Semi-Finalists! After a period of community feedback, we will decide on the final 4.
We encourage you to show love and support for this year's semi-finalists (and the previously highlighted Honorable Mentions)by leaving a comment about your favorites! And remember - the pieces below are samples of the artists' broader work, not necessarily wool blanket designs - so you'll have to use your imagination! I love the variety with breath and depth of creativity and expression. Geo Neptune captures the essence of his culture through his use of traditional natural materials in contemporary formats!

Geo Neptune work is breathtaking. He elevates craft to artistry, creating a visual feast using carefully cut and dyed natural materials, given form, and executed in a meticulous fashion with amazing detail, thought, and symbolism. His work draws from his tribe’s weaving culture, expressing his unabashed acceptance of himself as a Two Spirit using the brilliant and dazzling colors of the rainbow. And then the is the nest and the bird…. Could this be connection to home, family, and people – while the bird spirit takes flight? His message is loud, powerful, and perfect. If I could vote, his would be my choice.
